UPDATE: I’ve made a photoset on flickr that would stream some of the images from our trip to Victoria
.
We are back from a very exciting weekend away in the beautiful state of Victoria — the place to be! Ruth, Ian, Mum, Dad and I went down on Thursday night. We have been craving to visit the 12 Apostles down near Port Campbell, victoria for sometime now. Well, we finally made it! Unfortunately though, after leaving Sydney on Thursday night at about 2:00 am in the morning soon after we passed the small town of Yass in New South Wales our train engine developed problems and failed. Most were fast asleep. Ruth and I couldn’t get much of sleep and were wide awake and chatty. A little later after the taing had been stationary for a while went to see the train guard at about 1:30-ish am in the morning to request if the air-conditioning could be turned down. It was almost as freezing cold inside as outside! This was my first ever XPT ride on Countrylink. Fortunately though Country link arranged for buses to take us down to Melbourne. Once there we hired a car and soon we were off to Geelong, and down to Colac and then on to the most scenic Great Ocean Road. Wow, Victoria is breath taking!
We drove inland a bit to get to Port Campbell. Soon it was starting to get dark. It was about half past five when we left Colac through Winchelsea, Gellibrand and on to the meandering roads of the Beech Forest up to Lavers Hill. It was very foggy, drizzling and chill as a snowy day as we meandered through the dark and dense rain forests the sun was setting with very thick fluffy overcast clouds, you could only see a very soft orange glow through the thick black and grey envelop of clouds. The road went up and down and turned around the hillscape majestically and we had some lovely soft music as we drove along. Nature is so powerful, so touching and so emibriating only if you stop for a second to let it embrace you. The forces of nature, the silence of the mountains, the wind through the valleys, the lush green pastures where the cows and sheep graze can in a moments blink look so mighty powerful when God dims the evening light low and let the misty trail of fog run over the meadows. It is a sight to behold, absolutely spellbounding, touches the inner cockles of my heart. It is beyond vision can see and even beyond the tangible tactile of a human hand. There is just so much in nature! We hadn’t kept our CDs handy so had to rely on the radio music and tell you what, I have a feeling they just knew what kind of music would suit best. ABC victoria was playing soft classical panflute serenades. It was truly mood setting!
In a little while we went past the 12 Apostles on to Port Cambell where we called it a day.
