Travel is on the cards

a view of the Tasmanian shorelines from up above the Tasman skies

Travel is on the cards this weekend… *rolls tummy*… my tummy says it would be down south from Sydney into the victorian wineries… hmmm sounds lovely…

House-hunting

sitting by the rockpool at Mosman and watching the reflection on waterI’ve have been looking for a rental unit in lower north shore for a while now. I am a bit over Hornsby(though I kinda love the greenery and the bushland shire feel it has to offer — my weakness), will give you that Russ… and I’m dead bored here so am trying to move out of this place. But its not always easy to find a place even if for a short time… Far worse none of the ads in papers or on the internet EVER tell you if they take pets which means you have to call them or find out when you visit…

Yojimbo – organiser for Mac OS X

UPDATE: Yojimbo widescreen view hack from HicksDesign. This will help the 2 column Yojimbo app to work in 3 columns which in my opinion is a tad more user-friendly if you have a wide screen.

BareBones has done it again!! Another great app with yet another daggy icon. Egh! You’d need 3 shots of tequila to look at it for more than half a second! So RED! So Ninja! (I don’t dislike Ninjas ) but so ‘not’ macish! Was the iconist working in dim light in an underground garage, with pirated software and more specifically designing on a Windows machine? C’mon Barebones!! Hire some good icon makers!!!!

Are you in the UK?

Finsbury park stickerIf you live or are travelling around the UK, chances are you would at some stage end up on the tube! After all who doesnt do the tube in London? Life is hard and cold and you’d be tired and fall asleep and land up at a completely unknown destination unless you were Christopher Boone. (There is only one of him, sorry) But in times like these, when there is no one to fall back on you can always rely on the cute lil’ ingenious idea of Wake me Up. Wear your sticker, dream of flying greasy smoked yummy kebabs and also get woken up at your destination. Isn’t that a wonderful thing. Just make sure you dont wear ‘em all at the same time though… well, these days… you never know!!

California Road Trip plan part 2

Beach Boys Album coverWith little sleep and a lovely but hot and busy weekend (that wasn’t meant to be a complaint) and apart from starting work a little after half past 6 this morning I am a b-i-t exhausted. *yawns* Y-a-w-n-s again!! Y-A-A-A-W-N! But I’m looking forward to meet all you cool cats and can’t wait to discuss the next leg of our to be Death Valley experience! Maxine’s pick for the night Lord Roberts Hotel (in line with leather boots, cowboy hats, guns and rough trade [1, 2]*ahem*) for drinks and then onto Bar Reggio to satisfy our inner man with much amoré. Hey I even bought myself the Beach Boys to get in the mood. Its summer too… What can I say…

Web Inspector for WebKit

screengrab of webkit in action on my siteA great new addition to WebKit—the Web Inspector. It lets you browse the live DOM hierarchy in a compact HUD style window, catering to the needs of web developers. The Web Inspector highlights the node on the page as it is selected in the hierarchy. Search for nodes by node name, id and CSS class name is also possible within the same window! Whoa!! I like it already!

Download the nightly build from http://webkit.opendarwin.org/blog/?p=41 and run the followinf in Terminal.

defaults write com.apple.Safari \
WebKitDeveloperExtras -bool true

And you should be set to go. You’ll then see a new “Inspect Element” contextual menu item on any web page. This will open up the Web Inspector and refocus to the node under your cursor.
