Hanoi, Adieu – Michel L’Herpinière

a sepia tone image of the pagoda in the centre of the lake in Hanoi, VietnamI’m reading an amazing book at the moment. It is the biography of Michel L’Herpinière. Bittersweet memoir of French Indochina. I have only finished the first three chapters and it is terribly exciting to say the least. To a point that I find it hard to put this book down…. It is reminiscent of our holidays there last year. The little boys journey traversing though the landscapes of Paris, Morocco, south to Madagascar, Khenifra and then on to Ho-Chi-Minh City and finally the enfant d’Empire — french quarters of Hanoi. 1936.

The reason I blog

Five reasons why I blog you ask? There are many. Most of all is the joy it brings me to write and share photos with friends and family. Others are off-shoots of this very special one.

I really enjoy blogging though not near enough as much as I did before, partly because of time constraints and I find it more fulfilling to write something personal rather than being a pedestrian messenger broadcasting the same topic like a few thousand else on the internet. Really, do we need that many copies? Good composition generally take a bit more time to assimilate and present but when catered for usually make for an interesting read. Well, in most cases.

Scrabble on mac

Don’t you think this is a sign that I should buy the app? I played against the computer on ‘Intermediate mode’. My score: 503, Computer 201. But it did take me some time to get there. I’ve always liked Scrabble as a kid and used to play a bit in school and Uni days. The last time we played was in May 2006 at Halong Bay on the cruise. Just not often enough but this could possibly help!

Gold Star Weekend

March 2007. Its officially Autumn, soon the clock goes back an hour. But the sultry summer is far from over. Saturday was a very hot 37° C up here in Hornsby. Sunday night we had dazzling claps of thunder for two long hours all around Sydney. What a spectacular display in the night sky but at times the shards of lighting felt like they’d land right next door.

Infamous – Truman Capote

Catching up on pending chores never seem to end… but its Thursday evening and the weekend is just around the corner and been out quite a few nights soaking up every gay movie in town given the Mardi Gras Film Festival is on. So I can’t really complaint.
