The RSPCA is shocked and appalled at the use of live dogs and cats as bait in shark fishing, reported recently on the island of Réunion in the Indian Ocean. AND SO AM I. THIS IS SICK. Please sign in the Petition. Even if you do not wish to sign the petition can you PLEASE let your friends know about this act of animal cruelty and make ‘em more aware of whats going on? It is understood that stray animals are rounded up by local fishermen for the purpose.
RSPCA International senior programme manager Paul Littlefair says: “This is one of the most disturbing practices that we’ve come across. The use of a live animal in this way, apparently involving the binding of its legs with wire and piercing of the muzzle with large hooks, is unjustifiably cruel.
“Given Réunion’s status as a French overseas département, we strongly urge the French government to take immediate steps to enforce its animal protection legislation and end this inhumane practice. Members of the public should address their concerns to the French embassy to help bring this cruelty to an immediate halt.”

This is one of the most disgusting things I’ve ever heard of. Is this just for pleasure or is it commercial fishing in any way ? Also how can people stand by & see this happen & not do anything about it, there must be someone who’s witnessed it. I sure hope that the saying “What Goes Around Comes Around” is true. I could not feel anything but a sense of justice if one of these people were to find themselves in a similar situation to what they FORCE these poor animals to endure.
I have been doin research for school and it’s discusting to see the amount of numbers of poor animals that have been killed for our lesure or for our warmth and food. they trap poor rabbit’s in changes to test productions on them maybe we should put then in there instead im so diapointed

I am disgusted about the amount of people not caring for there animals and left having to live in the streets and starve to death. I hate it how people are getting drunk and leaving there dog out in the rain with out and food for a week.

I believe animals, should NOT be tested on. Its the worst thing ever. They have feelings too. People are just to dumb enough to relized that. We ourselfs are animals, yet we continue to put ourselfs further up on the food chain. I’m a huge animal fan. I adore them, oh so much. I’d risk MY life, for then. If you think I’m crazy. Forget you. My biggest hero, would have to be Steve Irwin. He deticated his life to help save ingured and or, indangerd animals. They are a huge part of the ecosystem. I’m 14 years old, at even at this young age, my belifs are HUGE. I want the best for them. My career will involve resquing them. ASPCA officer. Indeed. I do not aprove of horrible treatment to such creatures. Heh. They are much more than that. Using them to test, house-held products, make-up, Meds. ect, that is so wrong. They will, and do not react the same way, us humans would to it. Its a bunch of crap! I absolutly hate it. This needs to stop. I cannot believe people, in this world, would even dream of wanted to either, suport it, or do it in genral. People should be thrown into jail for this. Animals, we’re here before us. They deserve to be on this planet, just as much as we do. It is VERY disterbing, to say the least. Why would someone want to spray a rabbit in the eyes, make it go blind, then let it suffer some? Same with monkeys. Pin them down with chains, ect. test drugs on them, let them suffer some, to see if the drug works or not, and they kill them. That is horrible. I cannot believe it. Leave them in the tiniest of cages, just to sit there for days, to wait to die. That uggh. It annoys me so much. I didn’t know how much people are cruel to animals, until in my debate class, we needed to research about it. Pssh. It horrifies me. What If we we’re the animals, say aliens are real (Or some higher/upper class speicies.) Anyways, they come to OUR planet, and test on us. Keep us in small cages we can hardly stand up in. i hate this. it is the sickest thing on the face of the planet. I have a dog and i dont know what i would do with out him. I think its wrong. If i HAVE TO go fishing i would only use worms, whether or not its a shark or not. And if you think about it, shark fishing is illegal!! hello? do you know how many sharks are killed by the minute (like 5000) for skark fin soup? for those who dont know what that is, the fishermen cut off the sharks dorsal fin and then through them back into the ocean, how sick is that? and then you know how sharks are attacted to blood, well…. And if they dont get eaten they spin out out of control not able to swim anymore and/or die of blood loss. Please help!!!

Im doing a resaerch paper on Animal Cruelty. I stopped using hairspray and alot of stuff they test. It so upsetting that knowing if i never picked my puppy out of the pet shop it could be dead right now.
Animal cruelty is sick! The poor animals still love you no matter what you do to them thats what kills me. You could torture an animal and no matter what they still love you. STOP THE CRUELTY TO ANIMALS!! we can all make a difference in our towns so do it. I am starting an “against animal cruelty” club. Other people should do it too. We could all make a difference!!

If this is true, I think the only way of justice is to do to these sickos exactly what they have done. It makes me so sick and angry to think of how the poor animals are feeling!! That is totally disgusting and sick. Looking at the fear of that poor helpless dog brings tears to my eyes. How can someone do that to an inicent animal? How do they sleep at night? It makes me so angry. I wish I could put a hook through their faces and give them a taste of fear. F—ing bastards.

seeing the pictures and just thinking of the cruelty the make these poor animals endure makesme sick, i wish i could stop all the cruelty in the the world, shamefully i cannot and i hope anyone that reads this tries to help the defenceless animals that have to go through the pain of being abused and their lives being taken off them to male some other person happy, Their stomachs may be grumbling, or their health in danger but losing thousands of animals for one life or one meal simply is not worth it. Animal Cruelty
I think that Cruelty to Animals refers to treatment or standards of care that causes unwanted or unnecessary suffering, harm or torture to the animals. And the acts and of humans which are deemed cruel. Opinions are divided whether practices such as factory farming, fur farming or animal testing of medical and other products (including medical research involving animals) is cruel or not, it is still animal cruelty.
Animal cruelty is still happening to day, in the wilderness or in peoples very on households, Manny of the issues is hunting, and it is causing heated debates around the world. Since the late 1990’s captive elephants have killed 93 people a year, elephants are peaceful animals and this act is showing that their treatment and cruel training techniques cause the animal to suffer and act in defence.
Bullfights and cockfights still exist in today’s world. Bullfights in particular being incredibly gruesome and cruel, with animals being tortured and having spears thrown into their backs until they finally succumb to a slow death.
Over 10 billion animals have been slaughtered each year for human consumption which means that human are killing innocence animals for our hunger and stomach so that we survive.
Hunting is another cruelty to animals, people in the old days use to kill animals for clothing and for food.
Some have been dieing from our animal testing in labs to make a cure for us if we get a disease, they have to research and test chemicals on poor defenseless animals, just like these Baby Monkeys that were taken from the wild and put in cages for testing.
There are some house holds were Humans are hurting their own pets and sometime they run away or their owners that abandon them on the side of the road were they either get run over or the dog catchers get them until the owner picks them up, and if they don’t they get put to sleep, Or their owners don’t love them anymore and put them in a shelter for some one else or they ask them to put them to sleep. And there are some cases were in some house holds were humans think that it is funny were you can get an innocence animal such as a Cat and dress him/her up as a punk or a dog and dress him up in baby close, as you favorite superhero or in a Halloween costume . Such as these animal in the pictures below.
I think that these thing a cruel torture and violent to the Animals. If I was an animal and if I was dressed like these, I would probably want to kill my self because I would fell inclosed, unsafe, unwanted and feel like I’m been treated like a slave. Pets and animals aren’t meant to be treated like this.

i agree with loren above mine. i have a dog of my own and i never hit of try to kill it i only say i just want to eat you all up but i don’t mean it. i mean it in a way that he is so cute. at my school on day a stary dog came in our school and then all the grade sixs all started chasing it out of the school and i just felt like saying leave him alone and i did but they continued and the teacher just looked and laughed io thought that was so cruel that i had tears in my eyes because that dog was only a puppy. when a dog has cancer or something dosn’t mean you can burn it i would just let it die normally i have had my first dog i ever had get burnt. why can’t it just get burnt into ashes not into something else. people are just so cruel these days no one cares about others even peple murdder other people. but i don’t care about them what about animals. if a person that does cruelty to animals and is reading this i would like you to think what you have done to animals lives.

OMG people are so cruel. Animals are so lovely and i cant possibly imagine who could do something so cruel as to use dogs and cats as live bait for sharks. I have read many other stories about animal cruelty such as dogs fights and bear farming and so many people are against it and are helping to stop it from happening so i do not understand how some people can still be doing these horrible things.

My dog is a rescue and she had a really bad life she got beaten not feed,watered or walked just chained up out side….but now she is a very healthy dog and loves goin out….So to the people who are sayin SO about animal cruelty come find me and let me chain u up 4 da rest of ur life and kick u 4 no reason at all and then see how these animals feel!!!!!!!!!!!!!
These fisher man should get shot dead or been chucked into da sea with sharks and let them no what the pain is…..

Some people are really sick and I feel dsigraced to say I am a human being when people like this live amongst us who continue to torture animals in such a way. If I ever caught someone in the act I guarantee they would be sorry. animal cruelty is totally wrong!!

Animal cruelty is a stupid and selfish act that is performed by the cruelist and most descile people known to earth! it is performed by people who think that animals are of lesser or NO value compared to themselves! IT IS ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING!!!!!!!!!!!! i pity the poor animals that have to suffer at the hands of these appaling so called ‘human beings’! i will happily sign any petition given to me that is for throwing these disgusting people in jail for what they did to those animals!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
