For those that Firefox on a daily basis you already know that Firefox 3 beta has been out for a while. And if you haven’t you can always download it from here. But very specially for those that use Gmail a lot and are sick and tired of the look and feel Gmail offers, there is a nifty little extension that re-skins the horrid gmail interface. You can download it here. Its called Better Gmail 2 by Gina Trapani. It has useful extra features and skins to Gmail, hierarchical labels, macros, signatures, file attachment icons. If you are a regular Gmail user, this is for you.
This is the screen you get presented as you log in to your gmail account. Neat huh? Well I think so anyway!
And this is how it looks once you are inside Gmail. The interface is really clean and crisp and easy on the eyes.
Install the extension. Restart Firefox and go to Gmail! Isn’t it pretty. What a far cry from the yucky Googlemail default style!!
And if you really want to whet your appetite with more extensions for Firefox have fun here. But remember, extensions sit on your application and chew away your memory. Keep it minimal and use it judicisouly — and Bob’s your uncle!!

I love it, thank you Amit
Not sure that I dislike gmail interface so much (it’s more than Ok, functional, that’s what very important). It also goes along with general Google style.
but the extensions are interesting.
hmmm.. interesting
might give it a go.. !
Will give it a try.
I’ve been using that extension for ages, and when the update come out last week I jumped on that new skin – I could look at that all day. Actually now I do.
I just wish the person who designed that would come out with a Google Reader skin
awesome. I got a new laptop, and haven’t setup the BG2 yet.. I shall give it a go now..
Thanks for the tip Amit. Sure will give it a try.
It sure looks good. Will give it a try.
Bear one thing in mind that the better gmail extension is based on the greasemonkey extension. In my experience it has been a known performance hog. I hope this has been ironed out in the latest release of both the extensions.
