Changes at Karmakars.com

Karmakars.com is going through some changes as you might have figured. I’m kinda out with MT! It took me a while to make the decision but I think I’m better off with WP. Well for now anyway!

Note: You may find broken links. Your patience is appreciated.

For the moment I’m using some standard templates out of the box. You will see updates coming along the way! Until then please update your Feed links from below. Its only a matter of time before the present design changes so yeah, your patience is appreciated! :)

    Thanks Indranil, yes I figured. Just not getting enough time to work on this. Hopefully soon. Thanks for pointing it out and the offer :)

    And they should be fixed now! :-) I had 2 extra users in the DB while importing from MT. But seems all good now. :)

    Some big changes indeed:-) Any plans to write up why you moved from MT to WP and your experiences in doing so (after you fix all those bugs of course:-))?

    Oh that would so be like opening a can of worms!!! :-)

    My main concerns were MT’s lack of initiative to make a CMS that is

    • clean standards complaint code
    • avoids constant rebuilds
    • avoid spams (trackbacks even with comments and trackbacks turned off) Some weekends I got as much as 900 spam trackbacks.

    I believe some of these issues might have been sorted out or are in their workflow but the 3 years I spent using MT didn’t seem much change other that the one big change, it going commercial!

    Since the time I have moved to WP I have had only 2 spams in the last 5 days. with MT I would have between 35 - 100 spam trackbacks a day!!! No matter what protection I provided and how secure and well made the forms were. I’m sure MT has its plus points too and this IS NOT MEANT TO be a brickbatting session but WP seems to do what I want it to do very well, hassle free and quick!

    John, Tell me about it!! I cant agree more! I am looking forward to customise it a lot more to give it that karmakars.com feel soon :) Trouble is to make the time and do it but I know I will soon. Thanks for visiting.

    Whoops. I have so many feeds I never realized yours wasn’t updated. Such a shame you’ve moved to Wordpress, the MT 3.2 release is awesome as well as the stuff that’s coming out with it :)

    Arvind, I am very happy with WP I am glad I moved. I am happy you like MT - it still has a long way to go.
