Its just past midnight we’ve ushered into 2009. HAPPY NEW YEAR all. Fireworks light up the night skies over the iconic Sydney Harbour Bridge and Darling Harbour celebrating its 21st birthday! 2009 going to be one great year. It was a fun evening catching up with Aje, Richie & Parkie on New Years eve and lovely to see Alison and Tracey who are visiting down-under. After lots of nibbles, lovely 80′s music, enough BBQ to kill a village and Bella to boot (I was the designated driver so no alcohol for me) we walked down to the wharf with passion-pop in hand.
This years fireworks was meant to be a lot more special than previous ones as they used the special pyrotechnic technology to light up the harbour in style. Much more than the last few years but to be honest I couldn’t notice the difference all that much. This partly is because our lookout point: Bullpit Bay in Hunters Hill is a bit far to view every details of the fireworks. It was still a lot of fun though but surprisingly enough there seemed lesser crowds about. It was almost 3:30am by the time we went to bed but it was a fun evening indeed.
We caught up with the family for lunch with sleepy eyes and went for our New Years Day lunch before we headed back to the Hornsby Shire.
Having bought a lovely new 30″ Circulon skillet from stocktake sale last week I was keen to use it. We made yummy Beef Enchiladas and they did turn out nice even if I say so Between cooking and cleaning up the mess in the kitchen, I was making errands to the bin outside and couldn’t help notice how beautiful the evening sky looked on New Years Day. Certainly another promising year. The sun was on the verge of setting and the sky was blue as can be with the crescent of the moon shining through from the west. There were patchy cirrus clouds about, wispy tufted streaks in high altitude, like someone had gone up there and brushed up a line or two of these thin cirrus wisps. And with the setting sun the clouds got the little laft few slanting rays in the deep firmament making them a bright shade of vermilion, pink and crimson. Natures palette is incomparable! Even the best camera man can afford will only portray a fraction of this priceless splendour.
Happy New Year 2009 And hope 2009 brings you much happiness and success. Thanks for your support and readership.
