Mt Wellington conquest was a great adventure and a drive to remember. Kudos to D’s driving. I couldn’t have done it myself! We were now descending the mountain and heading down to The Henry Jones Art Hotel. Meant to be THE number one hotel to stay in Hobart. The staff were polite and very hospitable. We checked in to our Deluxe Spa Room with amazing view of Victoria Dock where you could watch the trawlers laden with the days catch slip into the harbour and with a view of the snow capped Mt Wellington in the backdrop. Amazing set up. Huge plush rooms with massive king size bed, surrounded with art in every room and corridors of the Henry Jones hotel with original walls of stone and timber trusses, columns and beams. It has a Kohler Elliptical double spa with ultra modern bathrooms like a glass prism with heated floors that feel so comfortable to step on. Above all a service of true distinction. You have to be there to experience it. I cannot recommended this place enough if you are in Hobart…

We were lucky also to arrive on a Friday when the local art curator from Tasmanian Museum Art Gallery lovingly called TMAG along with the Matt Casey -General Manager, Henry Jones gives the interested a free tour of their hotel along with the amazing history of the place starting early 1800s to present day of how Henry Jones came about… The Peacock family, the early settlement, the IXL Jam factory, Enplyoment of Henry Jones, poisining of the Peacocks, you name it… its very interesting and you can clearly relate to the bits and pieces in the story when you look back at the architecture of the place, the staircase, the wood used in the building. It is absolutely fascinating and you get complimentary drinks during the tour as well. We were informed that usually there are about 40 odd people that come for the Art Tour most Fridays but being a cold night there were only 6 of us. More wine for us and yes we did get topped up.
Honestly. This was amazing. The art tour takes about an hour and leaves you wanting more of the Henry Jones vibe and you get to see a lot of the building and the art and sculpture placed in it.

I could very well write all about the Art tour but it will not be the same experience. Both Matt Casey and the Art Curator(sorry I forget her name) has a very apt and spellbinding way of telling their stories. It was an experience. It really was. Now which other hotel in Tasmania does that? I cannot recommend this highly enough. We loved it thoroughly.
