How lame can some news reporters be?

UPDATE: The headline has disappeared from the main page! The article is still there though.

Here is proof. And to you authors and editors who write such distinguished articles of calibre — it makes me wonder how you really earned your publishing job in the first place. In the face of human disaster instead of reaching out and being a part of the process to help and aid here is talk on apocalypse. And why is news.com.au linking to such articles in the first place? There is far more important things happening in the world everyday and whats news.com.au’s idea or benefit in linking to such a poor article! Over 25,000 people have died and all we hear about is about the modern day exemplified humanity of someone giving a crap load of talk! Get a grip! Would you publish your marvelled pearls of wisdoms when your family members were dying from a natural disaster. Shame on you!!!

People often talk of religious hypocrisies and here is proof. Did you notice the not so subtle cross on the boys left cheek. If this is not media hype, if this is not making sensation and mockery of humanity, if this is not devaluing people what is!

I completely agree Amit. It’s tragic that this article on Christian evangelist suggestions that the earthquake in Pakistan is a precursor to an apocalypse is so prominently displayed on the news.com.au home page. What is sadder is that it reflects the views, tastes and interests of the Australian public because the big media corporations pander to those in the name of profit. I find the image very distasteful and it is this kind of journalism which creates divides between people of different religions and cultures as well.

Hi Amit, this is just typical of Murdoch worldwide. And the real fear is that his stated aim is to “own” the internet. I would have though that owning most of the Television and Newsprint would have been enough for him. He fires any journalist or editor that shows journalistic ethics.

It’s extremely distasteful and, yet again, reminds me that the news makers are running a business and have become less and less interested in reporting the news than being sensational.

Truly astounding. Why they publish that kind of tripe is beyond me – but that’s why I try to avoid the Murdoch press like the plague.

And good luck to Murdoch trying to “own” the Internet. He isn’t the first and won’t be the last to contemplate such a nonsensical concept.

Watch the documentary “Outfoxed” and you’ll understand why this tripe exists. It also shows to what extent we have become Americanised. It seems that the Religious Right have power in both the States and here.

I saw an article the other day in which George Bush was quoted as saying that he had a dream that God told him that he should go to war in Iraq and try and find a plan for peace in the Middle East. If this is not a case for insanity and inability to govern then I don’t know what is. And the scary thing is that essentially it is the Murdoch owned media that helped give Bush his victory in the last 2 elections (along with a corrupt Florida governer that just happens to be his brother).

Instead of extending a helping hand to the poorer nations, America and some of the richest countries have consitantly stolen the wealth and resources of third world and developing countries to slake the thirst of rampant consumerism. They then put a media blanket over these actions and put down those that even hint at a dissenting view point.

I guess it is down to individuals to at least make an effort to not believe everything that they are fed through the media and to try to help out those that are less fortunate. What do they say, it is the small things that we do that can make a difference. If a large number of the population do the same then maybe there can be a seachange. We can only hope…
