I just got mail and am all too excited to share it with you…
…we have seen some amazing monuments from mosques and Hindu and Jain temples to the unforgettable Taj Mahal as well as the narrow alleys of old Delhi including a spice market. Tomorrow we head to a national park to try to spot some tigers — apparently quite rare to see…

My friend Ruth is travelling through India. And we are all so keen to live the experience through her blog until of course we all catch up in flesh and blood. India is no easy country to visit especially if you love your creature comfort too much. You come back either liking or mostly disliking it totally. Just as Ruth describes in her first week there, its intense, full on, in the face. A land of great contrasts, of immense wealth and poverty, heat, cold and dust, religions, languages, food and living, irrefutably the biggest democracy, a country of extremes in many ways. I can’t wait to read more and more so, hear it all when Ruth comes back and of course there will be lots of photos to look at. All the best Ruth. And on that note… have you been to India? Do tell.

I am now reading Holy Cow and loving it. Sarah McDonald writes in an amusing way. I can relate to some of her observations and it’s giving me deeper insights into Indian culture.
