Mac-a-dee

I finally bought my much awaited 17″ PowerBook. It is truly an amazing piece of technology. This is my first posting on mac platform. Eating a humble pie here: I now think a bit more about websites working properly on Macintosh, but I tell you this, Safari works at the speed of light. I have only got 512MB of RAM and have a few applications open yet I don’t hear the HDD churning, nor do applications hang, and all of this as I even watch quicktime trailers off the apple site… sweet as!

I will in time max out my RAM and get the Airport Base, it will give me a lot more mobility and don’t have to be tied down to my study.

Funny this should happen only today…. I received an email from Stef …. Stef used to work with us before and is now on his 3 month long round the world trip… he well sort of didn’t like macs before … I received email that said…

They have a free internet Cafe here in the Apple store in San Fran so have been using the Macs here quiet a lot over the last few days and I am impressed…Might be time for a new challenge and the Mac could be it for me.

Well I say if you believe in quality and a sound system go mac. Its worth the $$.

  1. AHhh! What do you mean, “only” 512 MB of RAM? You could browse the web and have things open in windows with 256 MB of RAM! Plus Halo is much better for windows :) . Macs are much pricier for the parts (RAM, speed, etc.). Bahh! I would have negative views of you if the gmail invite didn’t make up for it :) .

  2. LOL, Konrad, you are entitled to your opinion :) Just as everyone else is to theirs :) Doesn’t make me any different or my opinion any different either. :)

  4. Congratulations. I can’t wait to see more reviews as you move along. Some how I have a feeling this is going to be a change in my future as well. Just a feeling. LoL

  5. Now you got me thinking. I did post telling you about my surprise PC (Evesham CPU & CTX Flat screen monitor) bought by my wife. I have convinced her in returning the Win XP OS system and transfering to Mac. Hopefully tomorrow all will go back. Fingers crossed I should be playing about on Mac too…..:-)

  7. I no longer remember what page linked me here of the 40 or so I have open right now in Safari. The only reason I’m commenting is to wipe that smug grin off of Konrad’s face. First off, the RAM used on PCs and Macs is the same! Secondly I find it funny how my desktop running 512MB has problems being responsive with Photoshop open as well as AOL (so close to getting broadband…hurry up cable people!). On my Mac somehow I can have Safari open with 3 windows and about 10-20 tabs open in each one, along with Photoshop, Dreamweaver, iPhoto, and iTunes and I have no slowdown issues whatsoever. Strange huh? I “only” have 512MB of RAM too. Can’t wait till I have 2GB in this beautiful 15″ workhorse. Oh and the Athlon XP in the desktop is “faster.” Faster my ass.
