Off to Gold Coast

Shimmering Pacific OceanApart from being Jeans for Genes day, the 1st of August, beginning of the month and another lovely month of chilly winter in Sydney it was also the day I took off to the famous Gold Coast. Since this was my first time up there I was really wide eyed and looking forward to my experience of the lovely Gold Coast. A long weekend is never really enough to see a place but we squeezed what we could to make this a good short trip and it truly was.

Arriving at Coolangatta felt like going back in time by 10 years of more… bit like Perth airport only much smaller. I only had a carry on bag so I could walk right off the plane and there was the lovely D waiting there for me. Soon we were going to drive off to the GC as the locals lovingly call it. It felt nice and pleasant and Sydney winter was long gone. No wonder so many people call Gold Coast home because of this lovely weather.

As we drove out of Coolangatta down Burleigh Heads the place started to resemble a bit like Miami — no I have yet to go there but from shows I have seen and movies that were shot in Miami, this lower Queensland coast so feels like it. And soon enough we were driving through a suburb call Miami :) and then as we hit the Gold Coast it reminded me of Vegas for some reason. It really did — the people, the place, the buildings the weather to a degree. So there we were in Las Vegas bang in the middle of Gold Coast. We had a lovely room with a view on the 18th floor at the Gold Coast International and it overlooked the Main beach. Very refreshing view of the coastline and it also had a small triangular balcony with two chairs and a coffee table. I’d never be able to sit in an open balcony.
