RawShooter but not for mac!

Macintosh is not only the preferred platform for professional web developers but almost most certainly for Professional photographers or most that do dedicated media work! It is true to say that serious photography and print and media work only ever happen on macintosh…not windows! Sorry Bill. This is because when you are on macintosh you get a lot of inherent advantages (native to mac OS X) working your graphics or photography there than you would elsewhere. I recently came across Rawshooter, from Pixmantec ApS a new RAW processing software. The premium package of this software sells for about US$99.00 Not too bad! Certainly competetive and boasts of a lot of features that photographers like myself would love to have… so I did sign up for a trial and to my amazement RawShooter is only available for windows WHAT!! Exactly!

I wrote them and was told that due to prioritization of resources they are still considering if and when to implement support for Mac. Sound backwards to me. But I could be wrong!! Michael Tapes seems to have done some high pitch selling of RawShooter and I am all for it if it is a good product but again… no mac support.. I mean guys that like wearing your undies on the outside! Pardon the pun I still can’t believe this!!

Ooooh another important thing… they don’t seem to compare themselves anywhere either on the site or in their training videos with Capture one! hmmm.

  1. It’s probably because they can’t really compare to Capture One. It’s really darn good. I bet they won’t compare to Aperture two either.

I really like C1 but it throws folders everywhere and I already paid for PSCS and Bridge. I’d love to use it, but those two factors make me seriously consider the high price-tag.

I agree but Capture 1 and PSCS2 are not mutually exclusive. You would need both for a good finish on your photos. Well in MHO of course.

  3. Well the things I don’t like about C1, PS and Bridge don’t do was my real point. I use Adobe Camera Raw to process, and while Capture One does a great job, for an amateur it’s a matter of the cash paid out for that functionality. C1 is absolutely a pro app. I wish I had access to RawShooter, because it’s about $100us and apparently really well-done.
