Spoilt that we are are, Joe kindly rsvped D’s invitation to the preview of “Rocky Horror Show” while we were in Europe. It sure was a delight to go to the preview and looking at the crowd clearly revealed that many had made an effort to dress up in a rock horror theme.
We however, weren’t too adventurous as getting to Star City in the peak traffic right after work was a feat in itself not to mention the looney cab driver whose driving skills surely made us ill-at-ease. But we made it in time except for a little heart-racing, thanks to the cabbie. Phew! We went up to the Ballroom for a cocktail and some nibbles. There were the usual speeches and door prizes and then headed down to the newly re-modelled theatre/auditorium.
And as we entered the venue some of the horror creatures from the show were roaming around in the crowd…. and there was this real ‘camp as a row of tents’ mincing gait, hip shaking, face contorting sexy boy who looked like the Jean Paul Gaultier model walking around in the distance. We got to our seats and gradually settled in and no sooner we got comfy… as D puts it… he made the beeline for me from nearly the other end of the auditorium. I was totally oblivious and reading the program and the notes on the ‘time wrap’ when suddenly I saw his taut thighs appear right before my very eyes.. We were seated in the middle of the row, well, he came over to our row and made his way right though to us and stood ever so lasciviously right in front of me and ruffled my hair and thrust his pelvis a few times in my face!! Need I say it was a show of a different kind to start with but I wasn’t complaining. It was a great fun night. I don’t much remember what transpired next but it was a nice night indeed.
Helpmann Award winners Iota (Frank N Furter), Paul Capsis (Riff Raff) and Tasmin Carroll (Magenta), with Michael Cormick (Eddie/Dr Scott), Sharon Millerchip (Columbia) and Kellie Rode (Janet) star in this brand spanking new production. Don’t miss the ultimate live party experience of Richard O’Brien’s Rocky Horrow Show. And if you got those horror costumes around the house, don’t be shy!
