Rose Seidler House in WahroongaAdrian, Richard, David and I went down to the Rose Seidler House which was built between 1948 and 1950. It is one of the most uncompromising modernist houses in Australia. Nestled in natural bushland of Ku-Ring-Gai Chase, with great view from its glass walls and sun filled deck. We took a few photos around the place. Considering this house was designed and built in 1948 it is very modern and extremely well lit. If you visit Sydney and have similar interests I’d recommend visiting the Rose Seidler House.

It is one of the finest examples of mid-century modern domestic architecture, the house contains a collection of original furniture by important post war designers Eames, Saarinen and Hardoy. Rose Seidler House was indeed a milestone in Harry Seidler’s career.

    While that is very true I must say the photos I took don’t do justice really. And for a house built in 1948 it stands out remarkably.

    We visited the house some time ago and as you say the architecture looks as fresh and vital today as I am sure it did then.

    Thanks Mark, it is amazing how Harry thought way before his time and shaped his dreams to reality. That reminds me must plan another visit down there soon. The place has a charm of its own… much have been a real pretty spot even 50 or 60 off years back.
