A couple of years back I had a brilliant idea… I do have then every now and then too but never really talk much about it… anyhow… like I was saying a couple of years back I had a brilliant idea… I would digitise my families photo albums… start to end! Most of mum and dad’s childhood photos were getting sulfurised…so thought it might be a good little thing to scan all of what I could and have them digitised, archived and then catalogued. Yes! Brilliant idea but an arduous task… and the volume of work hadn’t dawned on me till I got started.

On my parents next visit to Sydney I got more than two box full of treasured memories… photos of their alma-mater, teenhood, and then finally when they met and all the trouble began
… Unfortunately there aren’t many photos from dads side of the family of much of his growing up but some great ones of mum being a cowboy and running up a tree, dressed up as a man for a play at her school (no she doesn’t look butch/drag just in case your mind was wondering)… such precious memories and one could just flip through and be lost in time… equally fun are the photos of us siblings, Anjan my brothers and I growing up in Dhanbad… and then following by his son Robin… three generation of photo albums at a glance. I only have two sizable box of them to scan through but boy they are a joy walking down the memory lane even though some were taken way before my time probably a box camera or even a simple pin-hole.
The sad part is that I have sat on my tush way too long and haven’t done much but now that I am planning to embark on visiting my parents soon I’d like to see as much of the scanning I possibly can. Are you scanning in your old photos for posterity?

I’m inspired to start scanning photos myself. Such a logical and great idea.
Its time consuming surely and takes a bit of getting used to but the rewards are priceless!! Imagine the walk down memory lane!!
