That beautiful old Queen Victoria Building

We went down to the big smoke this morning. Since we didn’t have any particular plans for the morning, we strolled around and walked into the Queen Victoria Building and had lunch (more on that at D’s soon). Its not often I take my camera along with me these days but if you do have a camera in hand and happen to walk in QVB don’t they all look at you like a tourist? :) Funny that!

Looks like the 2nd floor of QVB is getting a nice rich brick-red coat on the inside and the colour really compliments well with the building, the dome, the lead-lighting and the general lighting that comes in through the skylight. As we walked down midway towards the ground floor I shelved myself off the escalators and took the following shot. In all these years I haven’t seen QVB in this glory. I do like the perspective and the grandeur of the mirror and reflection of the dome in it. I think when the painting job is thoroughly done level 2 would need another visit. That opulent red is absolutely inviting!

Sydney Apple Store

Little before our saunter into QVB we did go down to the Apple Shop. It has been a while the Apple shop unveiled in Sydney. Despite great design and architecture the layout of Level 2 somehow didn’t impress me all that much! For many that haven’t been to an Apple store before or is their first one ever you may beg to differ. Or maybe I’ll warm up in a few months and write gushing reviews of the Sydney store. However, as of this point my impression of the Sydney Apple store is average. They just don’t compare the stores I saw in the US. Thanks for taking me to the South Point, North Carolina and Magnificent Mile, Chicago ones Nan. The San Francisco was even better. What I have seen there does not compare what our Sydney store holds but I do hope in time they will hire more friendly and cheerful looking staff who *actually* know and worthy of being a Genius Bar staff. Thats my next gripe, I did go up to the Genius Bar where the staff that are supposed to help people get in the Genius Bar queue were patronising, unhelpful and busy chatting to each other and had a general unfriendly demeanour. About 30 minutes later when I got my turn to go meet one of the Genius Bar staff, he wasn’t helpful. VERY different experience to what I have had at all Apple stores in USA. Now you know why I think the Apple store in Sydney has a long way to go?

Awwww. You are welcome but I enjoyed it too. Do you know I still haven’t been to the one in New York and couldn’t find one the one in London. Come soon and we’ll all go to NY.

We must! NYC would be so much fun. Shame we didn’t even get to go to Hawaii this year but soon, very soon, fingers crossed. My experience of Apple staff and the stores in America have consistently been excellent. I really do hope Sydney store lifts up its game!

The iPod Nanos looked lovely but they sold out the 16GB ones. They look good but feel rather cheap compared to the older ones! Not sure if this is another trend Apple is following down.

Wow. The QVB is really looking lovely. The red color shows off the stained glass windows so nicely.

I haven’t checked out the new Nanos yet. A bit afraid I might want one if I get too close. :)
