The Wedding

It was three in the afternoon. We were at the Boat House in Noosaville mingling with friends, family and loved ones to share in Ruth and Andrew special day… such a privilege indeed. There was a vague hint of a rainbow in the sky. Soon we heard lots of smiles, squeals of joy and I could tell Ruth was about… that long awaited beautiful moment was upon us. The bride had arrived — she looked really beautiful and busting with joy from within… what a precious and memorable moment it was. The celebrant started in earnest.

The rain had stopped and the sun was filtering through patchy clouds above making tiny random sparkles ever so mildly on the gleaming Noosa river by which stood the Boathouse1.

It was a beautiful and a rather intimate ceremony. Ruth and Andrew had written their own vows and yours truly did a reading from Rainer Maria Rilke excerpt of Letters. Andrew’s sister Kate did one from William Shakespeare. Andrew’s mum Anne delivered a heartfelt speech thanking all and welcomed Ruth to the Mihulka family. David took some lovely photos while my heart fluttered as I did my reading :)

After the ceremony was over there were lots of photo sessions in and out and a beautiful rainbow was painted up in the afternoon sky. Wide and vibrant and there sure was a pot of gold at the other end where it hit the Noosa beach. Such jubilation! Can anyone ask for a better backdrop?

1. Little did we know a year back when we visited Noosa that Ruth would get married here. I remember the hot summers night in February 2007 when we walked across the road after dinner at Noosaville and went in the Boathouse to have a quick peek.
