Weekend away at Central Coast, NSW

Harry, Kevin and I headed off to Toukley, Central coast on Saturday morning. Despite the threatening cloudy skies and light drizzle around Hornsby it cleared up a lot as we drove along. By the time we reached Canton beach it was a nearly clear sky. Wow what a change but chill as! Even during the day. Harry had booked in a Caravan park. Well, must admit I was NOT impressed! I’ve never stayed in a caravan Park, Eeeww! And dislike the very idea. Well this was a 3 star chalet. Phew! Right at the edge of the beach, Serene. Calm. Overlooking the black swans and huge pelicans drifting by and the sails afloat! Harry was forgiven!

We visited the famous Norah’s Head Lighthouse that was built in 1903 and was considered one of the major coastal lights in NSW. The beam has been seen 28 kilometers out to sea. Only two ships have been lost off Norah Head and rocky ledge of the beach holds some spectacular view if you happen to visit during high tide. Guess we were lucky. We followed through onto Soldier’s Point over Pebbley Beach and then back to our chalet to view Toukley sunsets. You have to be there in person to witness the lustrous hues. The pictures doesn’t do justice!

We went back to The Entrance that night for a lovely Thai meal and a walk along the jetty. chill it was again yet so relaxing before we headed back to the chalet.

The following morning on our way back to Sydney we decided to have breakfast in a cafe at the mall. Toukley though small is very self contained little place and there is a huge Coles around the corner. Post breakfast we decided to go down to Chittaway point which is curvy and very narrow peninsula. Then onto Terrigal — a place I’ve been wanting to visit for the last two years or more. A great beach with a lot of character! Terrigal seemed nice and up market with a rather pleasant ambience with huge Norfolk pines along The Esplanade. A pathway beneath the trees leads alongside the beach out to Broken Head where the most prominent natural feature of Terrigal, the oddly-shaped headland — ‘The Skillion’. We settled in for some fresh catch of the day. Tasmanian Salmon it was. Thrown in with some yummy salad and soon it was time to head home. I’d like to visit Terrigal again. I know I would!

I really like the idea of staying in an upmarket caravan, close to nature but still having the creature comforts! It sounds like a really relaxing place. Being near the sea and water is always rejuvenating I find. I think your belly also enjoyed touring the cafes and restaurants around there!
