Just a little north of Berowra meandering through the old Pacific highway in gentle swoops there are amazing little lookouts of the surrounding national parks. David and I had stopped over for a bit… The fleeting cumulus clouds casting their evanescent shadow on the hills in the distance, aeroplanes flying into the white cotton balls in the azure firmament… This is from the ‘The Pie In The Sky‘ lookout , the gourmet pie shop/cafe which has been made famous in several films including the highly acclaimed, Lantana. The pies and views are worth a stopover. We had set out after a rather appetising brunch, there was hardly any place for pies or coffee but the view and drive, awesome!
But that was certainly not all… it started off the day before with the scrumptious mouth-watering nachos in a cute café in the sidewalks of Cremorne followed by ‘In her Shoes’ in the intimate ‘Lounge’ located inside the former ballroom of the old theatre — Hayden Orpheum. The dome in the centre of the ceiling is a copy of the Paramount Theatre in Oakland, California, which is regarded as the finest art-deco theatre in the world. ‘Lounge’ is set in plush red velvet seats with deeply coloured stained glass light fittings. Not to mention the The Rosemont, charmingly quaint piano bar, the duo playing one of Big Band’s songs.
On to the nocturnal trail of the bushland shire of Hornsby followed by a nice brunch at Jamaica Blue next morning and a relaxing ride to the “Pie in the sky” then down to Mosman through the arterial drive and the funk n’ soul of the rhythm and jazz of north-shore FM 99.3 as we picked up our dinner and headed down to Clifton Gardens in the setting sun of the dusky beach adjoining Sydney Harbour National Park looking at ferries passing by in the distance, reclined and looking up into the limitless empyrean turning on its evening wear and the stars came on twinkling by… ocassionally approached by over-friendly cockaburras for food then on to Alisons housewarming at Manly and meeting an amazing bunch of David’s friends, Kelly, Shivone, Darren, Kim — the hippy-hippy shake, the champagne, the company, the music, the beautiful night, couldn’t have been better! Such a nice time indeed! Onto Mosman bay for a super yummy breakfast by the tranquil wharf reflecting the velvety mauve jackaranda hues in places….. It all went so quick but it was so much fun! Time really flies when you are having a good time!

Yummy photo and I want a pie now! Or in aussie slang: A Dog’s Eye with Dead Horse!
Hello Amit,
First time posting a comment here. It looks like you live in such a nice to place to be. I would like to visit the beautiful land someday beause I’ve never been in anywhere in the southern hemisphere yet. Meanwhile, I’m very happy to see your photos. Thanks.
LOL@Ruth. Well, maybe when you go past the pacific highway during Katies wedding we’ll do a quick trip up there.
Quinn: Glad you liked the photo. You must visit down under its beautiful.
