Oh such a lovely weekend went by so quick again… from the lovely huge meatosaurian meals at Ribs and Rumps to the very home cooked BBQ with friends… don’t weekends roll on too fast?
Now speaking of food and trying out good receipes… thought I’d try some of the software that is available for mac. There are a whole heap here at Pure-mac but some of those webpages look fairly out of date. I have tried Mac Gourmet and Connoisseur and neither take my fancy. Am off trying Organized Gourmet and Kitchen. Whats your favourite gem to this end?

Nah i still prefer the Women’s Weekly cookbooks or the ever delicious recipes from Gourmet Traveller..
Harry, I agree, the Women’s Weekly and Gourmet Traveller are both really good. But wouldnt it be nice to be able to store your personalised receipes and use them at leisure.
yes i guess, as i have a running Word document with almost all my favourites, its not easy trying to update that document, i get lazy
Seems like it’d be wroth stealing that word file!! ;D
you know what happens to me – I try to think where I saw a recipe and usually I go to the right book and am amazed at how the brain focuses when it comes to food. But when I can’t find it I end up going through recipe books and reading a whole lot of recipes that I’d forgotten or I get side tracked and spend hours on the couch reading recipes. And I like that. On the other hand, when I want to save a recipe from somewhere I have no end of trouble filing it, can never find it again, get frustrated with all those different sized bits of scrap paper stored in no order whatsoever and usually give up. So the mac thing would be the way to go, I guess, but it would change a life time of bad habits and could I do that? It would be good to hear from somebody who’s done it, successfully.
Pam, I just love the thought of looking through luscious food magazines and there are some very beautifully designed magazines out there and the worst of it all is to find the strength to throw them out… (you can imagine the clutter) and yes I have collected some and like you I have no order of storage… I was so hoping there would be some good software on mac for it… but I am still not happy with any of the ones I’ve tried so far. Cookbook aparently is one of the promising softwares to be released soon to just do mac receipes, but it maynot be released for a while.
I use MacGourmet and haven’t had time to mess with it’s blog publish features.
Connoisseur has a better cook’s view and it’s image support works better but I found the interface less appealing. Organized Gourmet has a great interface and iCal integration but it’s more for people who home cook consistently (which I don’t do). Kitchen looks cute (never tried it), but I get the faint whiff of a java app there.
If you are going the un-cookbook route, then I might suggest hacking a DEVONthink group for that sort of thing. It’s much better than a word file.
There are a couple other programs which are uglier and more powerful. I take it the uglier part is a big turnoff to you.
Now there is a new kid on the block SousChef. Still not sure I like the interface. I got a free licence for it from Mac Heist 3. Downloading and trying it once is as far as it went.
