Yet another…

Glorious weekend. I should have posted this on the weekend of the 26th November 2005 — but as you know I have a job to keep, a cat to feed, brush, bathe, walk, my inner man to please and a lot more exciting things that are not meant for you unless you are happen in the elite ‘puff’ club of the far north shore and no they are not web related either. Schade! Which also means I cannot tag them with technorati much really. And then I keep thinking to myself should I write about ‘em at all, chances are I’d get stalked like a friend of ours did a few weeks back… and now with the trees from my neighbours gone they could literally peep in and see me sleeping in my birthday suit with a pussy on my new summery sheets, scary!

Exclusive screening of Joyeux Noël

David and I had the pleasure of watching the exclusive advanced screening of the 2005 Cannes Film Festival, written and directed by Christian Carion — Joyeux Noël which was a courtesy of ABC Classic FM. Joseph Hocking the Marketing Manager made the introductory speech before the movie was screened. I was hoping to see Julia Lester in flesh and blood too but she was on air and therefore couldn’t make it to the show. Passionate, bold, poignant, humane, extraordinaire are just a few thoughts that run through my mind thinking of last night. It was truly a moment of humanity that made history. A touching depiction of an extraordinary act of humanity. If I were to pick the two most impacting passions that lived right through the movie they would simply be brevity and respect for fellow human beings.

Okie, so am shooting for Tropfest 2006

Heard of Tropfest? The annual short film festival held on a Sunday night in February each year in Sydney. Well, I’ve been offered a short role, to be confirmed hopefully :) . The name of the film is “The Score”. You’ll see more details when the Tropfest 2006 list is up. In the mean time, well if this works out… do wish me luck :)!

The Scene: Well seems like the first scene is me dashing into a bubbly bathtub ;-) …a ‘fantasy role’ of the main character in the movie. Want more? You must watch it in February 2006. :)

What an amazing weekend!

Dead Europe - Christos Tsiolkas

photos of the cover of the book Dead Europe

THE FIRST THING I was ever told about Jews was that every Christmas they would take a Christian toddler, put it screaming in a barrel, run knives between the slats, and drain the child of its blood. While christians celebrated the birth of Jesus, Jews had a mock ceremony at midnight in their synagogues, before images of their horned God, where they drank the blood of the sacrified child.

Glorious weekend

The weather has been glorious, the sun shining bright and just right to give you that soft winter warmth, the sky — blue with little or no cloud, the breeze slightly chill, gentle and soft… its been such a beautiful day — such a beautiful weekend indeed! Catching up with friends, spending time with few treasured ones, going for a walk in the lovely comforting sun soaked winter day reminds me of my childhood… I don’t know the corelation but it makes me reminisce the nostalgia of the once less complicated life of a boy named Amit. :) That doesn’t necessarily imply life is any bad now, maybe just not as simple as it always used to be.

Tasmania Group Pool in flickr

Lighthouse At Davenport, TasmaniaFinally I decided to start a Flickr Group for Tasmanaia. I have loads of photos from my trip to Tasmania and there wasn’t another that showed much of Tasmania.

Please join the group and comment away (nicely :-) and if you have photos from Tasmania by all means add ‘em to the pool. This would also be a place where I can hopefully bring about some awareness of the huge logging that goes on in Tasmania. Almost unnoticed! Maybe, just maybe, people will think twice before they go falling trees of the world heritage area down-under!

Do you take your good living for granted?

You get up in the morning and turn the tap open for your daily ablution and it runs dry… there is no water, not even for a shower… how would that feel? You already have a long and tiring day to plan for and get on with while your very basic amenities are not adequately met…

Logging in Huon Valley — Tasmania

Logging in TasmaniaJust when you think the world is awakening to a new consciousness of preservation and keeping nature as untouched as possible comes this devastating report from ABC over new logging trials in the Huon Valley of Tasmania. It is sad, depressing, immoral and gross carelesness. Where is the education, where is the thought for the next generation and where is the inner consciousness of people who allow such things to happen? I thought I’d blog about this to voice my opinion, it saddens me deeply, it truly hurts to even hear about this.. I’ve visted the Huon Valley in the summer vacation of December 2003 and January 2004. Its a staggeringly beautiful place. Words fail me even to think of the beauty, the flora and faun of the Huon valleys and the lower Weld Valley. It is truly mesmerising!

Sydney to Cooma and back

Parliament Circle entranceAfter having stayed in a few weekends we decided to go for a somewhat longish spin down to Canberra Cooma. Last weekend was a long weekend due to Anzac Day — a day to commemorate all the brave soldiers that laid their lives for Australia in Gallipolli. We took off to Canberra from Sydney and drove down along the M5 Motorway. Our first exit was the quaint little town of Berrima. Fascinating! We have been there about a couple of times but was mum and dad’s first. They loved it. It is a small historic town and has so much character it almost makes you feel like moving there for good. The flora and faun, the autumn leaves, the soft gentle autumn breeze.. Well actually it was cold. :) We had gourmet pies for lunch and then headed back onto the M5 towards Canberra.

Hornsby - the bushland Shire

A few days more and we will be moving to the Hornsby — the bushland shire of New South Wales. Hornsby is about a 40 minute train ride from the city of Sydney, about the same distance by road. From Pearces Corner to Wisemans Ferry and from Beecroft to Brooklyn, Hornsby Shire is a vibrant and beautiful place to visit and to live. Hornsby is surrounded by the Ku-Rin-Gai Chase which is about 5 kms away and Gosford about ten kilometers on the other. What I now feel a little bad about is that having lived nearly two long year right next to the Lane cove National Park I never made it there.
