Isn’t she such an adorable Cat? This was shot on last Saturday. This is one of her favourite places… top of the bookshelf in the lounge room. Typical of a persian… they always want to be perched on the top most piece of furniture in a room so they can see all thats happening… she loves sleeping here too only when she is left on her own… well I had this surge to look for cat …

Yeah well, I though I’d better… Chumki has started blogging in earnest…for now its just a profile page but I hear rumours about podcasting… well you never know… do check it out…

Chumki is really growing up. She had to be de-wormed yesterday and I don’t think she liked the medicine very much after all. She did all she could to spit it out but didn’t succeed so now she runs away a bit from us. She’ll get over it LOL. But she tries to look all cute (well even more) and beg for food when we go in the kitchen. That habit is gradually wearing off but I guess it will take a bit of time and strong determination on our part to be mean! Here is a picture of chumki on the window sill against the backyard on Saturday morning. And if you want to check out other chumki blogs here you go.
Chumki (my pussy’s name) means glitter in Bengali. So there you have it, Chumki is my glitter fairy. She is 8 weeks old today… and such a peach. My little cuddly charcoal black Persian. She was born on the 25th of November, a cusp born Capricorn, and a demanding little queen but then I love her and she almost gets away with anything. Purrrrrrrrrr!
Mum, Dad and I spent a fair bit of time planting bulbs I had bought somedays back. Autumn is the right time to plant your bulbs in if you care for plants and flowers in particular. Mary-Anne and I had bought a fair bit of ‘em from J N Hankcock & Co. We have gone through few pots of Fressias, white, creamy white, scented ones, coloured, double coloured, tall mixed tyes, Nerines, white, red, pinking red, wine red, Daffodils, pink laces, white, mixed… oh there is a lot of variety and to add to that I even got a Ctenanthe — an evergreen photosensitive foliage, and all this commotion as Chumki quietly and leisurely watched us working in the garden. She is not allowed to go out. The moggy neighbours cat is all out to get her and frequents our driveway way too often. We have moved some furniture around the lounge area and few pots and plants too — it looks awesome
ofcourse, Ian and I just don’t have a formal degree in interior decoration is all. But that doesn’t stop us…

Monday was short, rushed and very busy in among all other things. We drove to work instead of taking the trains. Sydney has an excellent Public transport system, Although the trains at times can be a bit erratic still over all Sydney’s Public Transportion system is one of the best the world over. Many say this who have travelled around a bit.
We got up very early next morning and after finishing the last minute packing we drove down to the International airport. Mum and Dad were leaving. We have had them for the last two months and travelled a lot and spent a lot of time together… they could have extended their stay by another month but they had to be back as dad had commitments earlier in the week back home. We had Oporto for breakfast overlooking the myriads of aircrafts land and take off. And soon it was time to say our goodbyes. They were off to Singapore and then onto Calcutta. They were just lucky the lady at the check-in for Singapore Airlines allowed an extra 10 Kilos!! Wow. Time I learnt to talk like a Gemini, yes well dad is one! And of course he also made the most of his dutyfree at Singapore.
I hear that the WSG meeting was a great success yesterday while I was getting drunk on the dark red mellowed and full bodied Forbidden fruit, and Belgium’s very own abbey beer — Leffe Blonde and emibriating Poulette mussels cooked with white wine, bacon, vegetables at the Heritage Belgian Beer Cafe. Yummmm. Okie I will stop my mouths watering again!! I am so full of my inner man (thats my love for good food btw) . It was such a great great night celebrating Ruth’s birthday and having dinner with her close friends some of whom I meet after almost a year or more… and all that catch up and goss you know… ![]()
And guess what almost everybody asked about Chumki… now isn’t she famous! Think I’ll go quitely but I am a bit jealous now!

I was pleasantly surprised to know that I have been listed in the list of Top 500 Photobloggers worldwide! Wow! I was really swept off my feet. It felt good. a bit profound too
Mum and Dad are here with me and you know they would get emotional and they did!
… and Chumki
now let me tell you this… none of what I am saying is a figment of my imagination
!
Well almost! I decided to have number 1 cut, well number 2 and a bit more on the top and down to number 1 all the way at the back and the sides. Well that actually did happened last Thursday. Friday was our last work day at ATP otherwise known as Australian Technology Park as we are moving office and start back in St. Leonards were we were about four years back! Most of Thursday and Friday went in packing up our stuff. Exciting! Good news for me though… its easier to get to St Leonards from where I now live than ATP.

A couple of months back my old faithful Hoya Circular Polariser gave way. I have been using that over 3 years off the top of my head. Hang on, maybe more… it has had years of rugged use across our travels through America, Europe, Asia & Australia. I really shouldn’t complain, should I? I have on occasions accidentally dropped it while changing lenses. It has been through a bit not to mention Chumi has kissed it with her musky Persian breath at times
. When we were at Copacabana it gave way for the 3rd and final time. It wasn’t until I had to shoot without polariser that I realised how very much I relied on it.
Flickr has a somewhat secret algorithm that look at the uniqueness of photos. Its called Interestingness! Flickr describes it as follows:
Besides being a five syllable word suitable for tongue twisters, it is also an amazing new Flickr Feature.
There are lots of elements that make something ‘interesting’ (or not) on Flickr. Where the clickthroughs are coming from; who comments on it and when; who marks it as a favorite; its tags and many more things which are constantly changing. Interestingness changes over time, as more and more fantastic content and stories are added to Flickr.
My interesting photos on Flickr are below. Enjoy.
After having stayed in a few weekends we decided to go for a somewhat longish spin down to Canberra Cooma. Last weekend was a long weekend due to Anzac Day — a day to commemorate all the brave soldiers that laid their lives for Australia in Gallipolli. We took off to Canberra from Sydney and drove down along the M5 Motorway. Our first exit was the quaint little town of Berrima. Fascinating! We have been there about a couple of times but was mum and dad’s first. They loved it. It is a small historic town and has so much character it almost makes you feel like moving there for good. The flora and faun, the autumn leaves, the soft gentle autumn breeze.. Well actually it was cold.
We had gourmet pies for lunch and then headed back onto the M5 towards Canberra.
Up until Sunday the 1st of June 2008 I truly was a Tupperware Virgin. I knew what they meant and had heard good reviews from Tupperware converts and people that used them but never ever held one in my hand or knew what they could possibly do and what life changing experiences they could bring about! It was nice of Adrian & Richard to invite us over for a lovely Tupperware party. Great experience and need I say that I learnt a few things. Having had done practically no research at all I was under the impression that I would find something nice to buy under $20.00
well! That was about to change soon! Although David had dropped in a hint to say they are not really your average run of the mill plastic. Yet I landed up buying a bit even for my first experience. The stuff is really good! Trust me
Or maybe I’m easily convinced. But I’d like to think the former!
