Ah finally! A very worthy buy indeed. Epson’s P-2000, featuring a 40GB hard drive and 3.8“ LCD to view, store and playback photos, videos and music–all without a computer. A brilliant add to my photography paraphernalia and would be very handy in Viêtnam.

HDR or High Dynamic Range is an imaging technique used in (mostly digital) Photography where more than one exposure of the same frame is merged together using software to boost the final image with a higher tonal range. In Photoshop lingo, more gamut. This technique allows greater control of light and hence far more accurate representation of the image to the real scenario when HDR is produced. View the details in the larger version of the above image.

In a small Colorado garage over 35 years ago Greg Lowe discovered the idea of making camera bags that would in many ways change the way people lug their cameras carting them to remote destinations. If you’re a photographer you’re bound to have your run in with a few lenses and gear that you build up over time. Ease of access and a safe, sucure and easy way of carring them is of paramount importance.

For those of you who have looked ‘closely’ at my flickr photos from the last 2 days or so and what I mean by looking ‘closely’ is, if you had bothered to check the EXIF data you’d know I am shooting with my new toy!! Yes, I bought myself a Canon Digital Ixus 750! Yoo-woo! Call me reckless and imperative yeah thats me!! I wanted to get a small digital camera for taking happy snaps… tired of lugging the 20D around all the time… there couldn’t be a better time for this indulgance that the stocktake sale! So there I was running around in the rain between Chatswood and Hornsby to get myself a good deal on Friday the 13th. While I haven’t taken a whole lot of photos you’d surely see some on Flickr soon enough. And to this end I have also set up a Flickr Group for those of you who might have a Canon digital Ixus 750. Please join the group and post away.

Macintosh is not only the preferred platform for professional web developers but almost most certainly for Professional photographers or most that do dedicated media work! It is true to say that serious photography and print and media work only ever happen on macintosh…not windows! Sorry Bill. This is because when you are on macintosh you get a lot of inherent advantages (native to mac OS X) working your graphics or photography there than you would elsewhere. I recently came across Rawshooter, from Pixmantec ApS a new RAW processing software. The premium package of this software sells for about US$99.00 Not too bad! Certainly competetive and boasts of a lot of features that photographers like myself would love to have… so I did sign up for a trial and to my amazement RawShooter is only available for windows WHAT!! Exactly!

Glorious weekend. I should have posted this on the weekend of the 26th November 2005 — but as you know I have a job to keep, a cat to feed, brush, bathe, walk, my inner man to please and a lot more exciting things that are not meant for you unless you are happen in the elite ‘puff’ club of the far north shore and no they are not web related either. Schade! Which also means I cannot tag them with technorati much really. And then I keep thinking to myself should I write about ‘em at all, chances are I’d get stalked like a friend of ours did a few weeks back… and now with the trees from my neighbours gone they could literally peep in and see me sleeping in my birthday suit with a pussy on my new summery sheets, scary!

You can tell we are all having way too much fun when I don’t write or there is so much to write I rather go without. No time for updates (Note to self: “Must keep buffer draft post handy”) and there are php errors on the inner achive pages as Cameron rightly said this arvo — “You are hardly online thesedays”. Hmmm. Besides its the silly season too. But whatever you do don’t miss out on the flickr luvin‘. David, Rish and I had a rather nice evening out last night, ferry to Circular Quay from Mosman followed by cocktail at the Blu Horizons where we met Maxine up in the himmel and then back to planet earth for some wagamama and laughter galore all the way. The ferry back was fun too. Rather choppy drive and a bump or two on South Cremorne wharf and a few handpicked ones along the way but we are very accomodating you know.

Just so you know…. a lof of the photos from the amazing, exciting, futuristic, open-minded, inspiring, most-friendly, most enjoyable ever Web conference Web Essentials 2005 is now up. There are a few more to go to complete the entire set, so thank you for your patience. The photos include pre WE05 yak yak fun booze dance goss ummm what did I miss? Well… yes, I’ve been working my fingers to the bone but still its taking a long time isn’t it? Slow lazy me! Is this where I say… ‘Ain’t no spring chicken no more’… so, pardon my speed! Am a slow release fertiliser, gosh! did I just say that.

It was yet another glorious day today and am glad I decided to go out. Later in the day when I was loaded with retail therapy I felt this sudden urge to go to the National Art Gallery. To cut to the chase, well, I never made it there. Maybe next weekend. In the mean time… must say and sorry for this short feint — if you have bought an iPodnano you must buy the armband. Its really worth every cent. So there I was after my retail therapy at Chatswood, a lovely curry to satisfy my inner man and a fresh boyish haircut and some new gel they slammed on my hair, draped in faded diesel jeans and a light brown T-Shirt. I was flashing my new red armband on my left muscly (both are) bicep in skimpy sleeves with my black 4GB iPodnano tucked in vogue. Trust me I couldn’t have been any more vain as I blasted music in my ear canals and tapped away to NO Rougher DJ Scot Project.which I often do

It’s been a while I printed some of my own photos that I’ve been taking over the years. Only this time, I am doing it for myself. Eventually, it would also be nice to make my very own photo-book(s) from some of the good prints. Thank you Maxine for inspiring me! Post Maxine’s sojourn to Japan she has made 2 absolutely gorgeous photo-books. Maxine, if you are reading this I hope you put some of those photos online. Having had the pleasure of seeing them I can clearly vouch that every photo in there stands out unique. So there am I, working on framing photos
here’s a start.

If you have a flickr account you can make your own flickr galley to bring in a pool of images from your flickr.com account to a totally unrelated page on a different server(other than flickr). This will save you having to make many gallery pages. All you need is a populated flickr account. Some rudimentary HTML and CSS skills!

I’ve been thinking of Informator Pro as it works right through the Finder of Mas OS X but their product isn’t Tiger ready yet and the trial downloads don’t work. GRRRR!! Painful and discouraging!
